My ds watched a big fat snake crawl up under the bottom row of siding next to our front door. It was about 3 feet long but I have no idea what type it is.

Can the snake get in the house from under the siding? I'm kinda nervous but maybe this is a common place for a snake to hang out? Can I trap it somehow? I just don't want to find it in my bed! 4951

Uh oh!  Hopefully, it will exit on it's own.  It's not likely to find food in your walls.  However, snakes can climb walls and get into the attic, or into your house.  Years ago, we found a Copperhead in our master bathroom.  It was only about 8-10" long.  I pinned it down until my wife could grab some pliers.  I took it outside where it met my shovel. 4951

@QueenB:  It was at night and fortunately we turned the light on.  We get enough light from a street light and a high window that we often don't bother with the light.  It gave me the creeps for several months.

This is the same thing in my master bath except it's a skylight and moonlight. I never turn on the light. Bet I leave the light on now. Does light scare snakes?

@QueenB: No, but the light allowed us to see it before we stepped on it!

Oh Lord.... I was reading this thread and a strange thing has been happening at my house.  It makes me wonder if there is one in my garage.  I have a cat outside that was not mine I adopted when I moved here four years ago.  She comes in every night I keep door cracked and shut it behind her and when it rains she comes in the garage and eats and drinks in there. For two days she will not go into my garage.  I have to put the food outside and the water.  would she act like that if a snake were in there.     Oh gosh!!!!  How would I ever find it if that's what it is. 4951

@BooBear: Quite possible.  Little baby snakes can get through tiny cracks/gaps.
