@mrsames77: I hate to have to tell you this but it's a $2500 job (or more). Â Cheaper than a new car, but not cheap. Â The parts are probably less than $200 - it's the labor that kills you on that one. Â They have to take the whole top end of the engine off. Â They usually do the timing belt and all of the other belts while there in there, too. Â It's 1-2 weeks in the shop, depending on how many people they can throw at it.

@mrsames77: What year/model? Â What kind of shape is it in (besides this problem)?
@mgw300e: It's a 2005 Grand Prix, 117,000 miles. My husband thinks the transmission is acting funny too but I don't know..
