Lets put it to the people, I am a professional gunsmith here in Kingwood.  I occasionally sell some of my personal firearms, with a bill of sale, on this website.  Many of which were AK47's, so to my surprise, they were rejected by the admin of this site.  I called and they said that "scary guns and assualt rifles" don't belong here as it intimidates the users.  So, I went along with that, didn't agree but what could I do? So today, I posted an ad for a Browning M1919A4 semi auto machine gun.  As semi auto, it's classified as a rifle.  This ad was aslo rejected.  Still waiting on a reason as to why.  I would like to know what the "People" say about this, as the people running this site seem to be dictating what you can see and sell on this public site. I understand that there are many that have no interest in firearms, however, does that mean the rest of us can't sell what we want too? Please chime in, I'm interested in all opinions. 4951

semi auto machine gun

@dougagee: Really?
Are they charging you for the ad?If you are paying for the ad, then you have some choice.I'm a gun guy, but this site makes it's money from advertising and number of people it can bring that advertising to. So it is in their best interest to not scare people away.Non-gun people could be scared away, ignorance is bliss after all.M1919A4 "rifle"

FOFA,  not paying for ad, I've had it out a few times with the person running this site, We just don't seem to agree on anything unless it's a pistol or regular rifle.  I'm just looking for equal ad access and haven't been able to get it here.  The problem here is, I could post an ad for a tactical 10/22 semi auto rifle or a  tactical semi auto pistol and it would not be rejected.  So, my question has always been, where's the line drawn? 4951

@dougagee while many people in the community access this site, it is privately run. The owner decides what can be sold on it at his discretion. There are rules for the classifieds as well as this forum. We don't always like them, but they are there for a reason. I am personally not scared by advertising of guns but I support the right of the administrator to reject ads because it is his site. Try to use channels that are designed for guns and ammo.  4951

This site is private property and since Joe hasn't banned me from it or any of my favorite people after some of the crap they have pulled, I'm with him.

Maybe try the other site?

I don't have a problem with guns by the way. 4951

I don't have any issues with rules on ads, however, when I go to the section labeled Seller Guidelines and Prohibited Activities, there is nothing there about what you can or can't post.  I guess I get a little frustrated when it becomes a trial and error situation.  4951

the people running this site seem to be dictating what you can see and sell on this public site.
We had this discussion last year on the phone, when you got angry, told me I was ruining the country and hung up on me. ; )I don't have anything against these types of guns or the people who own them -- they look like a lot of fun.  And we
do allow all sorts of gun sales...simple pistols, revolvers, rifles,
shotguns, BB guns. I get a lot of flack for that already. But, I draw
the line at machine guns, AK-47's, AR-15's, and other guns that look like
these types of guns.  Once the guns get "fancy" or "scary" to a significant portion of my audience, they'll get rejected. It's not a hard line, and I know there is some vagueness to it.The sale of certain types of guns, like AK-47's or the gun above, make a significant portion of my audience uncomfortable, which is why I've decided not to allow them...this is a middle ground compromise between banning all guns, and allowing all guns of all types on the site.

My web site, my business, my property: I make the rules. Tough noogies. ; )The idea of private property is something that most Gun Toting, Responsible Voting, Freedom Loving Texans should have no problem understanding. 4951

I agree it is a private site, and the admins can allow or disallow any ad as they deem fit.

Just a point of clarification, however.  AK47 look-a-likes, and AR15s can not be advertised because some people think they look scary, even though they are no more dangerous than many non-scary looking rifles? 4951

"The idea of private property is something that most Gun Toting, Responsible Voting, Freedom Loving Texans should have no problem understanding. "The suggestion that I don't is quite rude... I deal constantly on a daily basis with the ATF, HPD and FBI.  I understand RULES, that's why when you start a buisness in this field, you get a 3" book laying out those rules, get audited regularly and pass with flying colors every time.  Here it seems hap-hazard, All I was looking for from you is a good understanding of what was not allowed. Last time we spoke, all that was mentioned was that "Assault rifles" were not allowed. I got that in you post so thank you for the clairification.I respect private property, I now know that it's up to you to monitor what people come across here.  It was my mistake to think that this public site that's privately owned/run was a place to sell items that a large majority would be interested in.  4951

@FoFa Agreed! I understand that there are people that hate guns, or just have nothing to do with them,I have no issues with that.. I train a lot of people that don't want/have guns so they can be educated in what to do if they come across them.  But, they are here, and a large part of our lives.  It;s like with everything in life, if you don't like 'em or aren't interested in them, Don't look.  We're doing nothing wrong and I won't be made to feel like I am.  AND yes people, I do understand this is a private site, so I'll happily advertise my "scary" rifles elsewhere.  The look of the firearms today are determined by the public.  Just like cars.   4951
