There's an app for that.“Oh Crap” is now an app. The appropriately titled “Oh Crap App” is a boozer’s best friend when it comes to the “Oh crap!” moment of realizing you have been busted by rollers for your idiotic decision to drink and get behind the wheel.According to the Oh Crap App website, the app is “designed to educate the public regarding their legal rights when being investigated for a criminal offense. It features the emergency ‘Oh Crap’ button designed to be used in emergency situations where a person is being stopped or questioned by law enforcement.”Among the app’s features are a listing of basic rights when being pulled over of suspected drinking while driving, a blood-alcohol calculator, a “Contact an Attorney” and a “Notify Bail Bondsman” feature. 4951

OK --- if you are too drunk to be driving, would your brain be in gear enough to pull out your phone, activate the app and wait patiently for the officer to come to your window?  Would you be clearly thinking to that point?  Most likely not - if your mind is that blurred, you will be fumbling for your license when the officer is approaching.  And, if you were pulled over and the officer is already at your window, is he really going to let you pull out your phone & activate an app to record the arrest?  Most likely he will take the phone if he doesn't shoot you for reaching for something in the car rather than 'hands on the wheel'?  Best solution is to NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!!!  4951

I would prefer that vehicles be able to detect if a person is drunk.  If so, then touching the drivers seat, steering wheel, or shifter would result in a large electrical shock! 4951

You do know the capability to detect a drunk driver prior to driving is there. The problem is you can get not drunk buddy to breath into the thing.Or something like that. There was one that was like a computer game you had to pass before driving, instead of a breath test. Some people just have problems with it.No reliable way  4951

@Retired_Engineer: I like that but don't give our government any ideas. Just how they made seat belts standard in every car, they're surely down the line in time make breathalyzers standard in cars too.....

@bubbleyes72:  Yeah, I'll shut up about that.  Someone may take it seriouly.  Congress just passed a law requiring all new vehicles to have backup cameras by 2018.    While it is a nice feature, I think it's ridiculous to make it mandatory.

@Retired_Engineer: Problem would be that alcohol is not the only drug that will make someone DUI....sleeping pills, antidepressants, antianxieties, pain pills, hard narcotics, even pot can affect someone ability to safely drive.  A breathalizer will not detect any thing like that.  IMO texting and driving is as bad as drinking/drugging & driving, anyone driving distracted or impaired needs to let someone else drive.

@Retired_Engineer: I'm old school, I don't always rely on mine or the mirrors, I will turn back and take the old fashion cover thy *** look to make sure I can get over or back up. Emoticon 4951
