This is getting old. Will sleep for a couple of hours them wake up and then can't get back to sleep. Then finally go back to sleep and sleep some more . Any suggestions? 4951

Try Benedryl, but like Zquil, take it early. During the week when I can't sleep, I take it around 9:00ish, take a warm relaxing bath then go to bed. That gives me 8 good hours. 4951

go to Kroger get some of the "Purple Drank" its a sleep aide.  Used to help my son during school to sleep.  With ADD and his mind racing all the time it was hard for him to sleep.  Its supposedly all natural stuff.   4951

Is the Zquil the night time sleepy stuff? It's not medicine right? I will have to look into that. I will also look into the Purple Drank also Angie. Where is it at Kroger? My mind is racing at night and won't stop. If I take melatonin I will be draggin all day long. I take the Calms forte to help me fall asleep lately but still can't make it through the night. 4951

When melatonin is taken as a dietary supplement, it helps people with sleep disorders get to sleep more quickly, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. However, excess melatonin levels can also lead to trouble sleeping and other health issues. I have never tried melatonin, however have a friend that lives by it.  She takes it an hour or so before going to bed - she has recommended it to me.  I have this problem on occassion, usually it's when I'm not getting enough exercise or not eating enough healthy foods.  My doctor recommended that if I'm not falling asleep while in  bed I should move to a chair and read until drowsy and then return.  He explained that if you continue to stay in bed you program your brain that bed is not for sleep. ie..worry    4951

@bap: I have heard that melatonin shouldn't be used by women of child bearing age. Who knows, though. We all hear a lot of things.
