We're in the market to buy and want to stay in Kingwood. We're finding there is not a huge inventory to choose from at the moment (in our price range). Now, we are seeing Oakhurst and other Montgomery County homes for sale, but the New Caney SD (for high school) is what is keeping us from looking more closely at it. Our neighbor told us there was talk about building a new high school in Kingwood for those developments. Have any of you heard about this? We're 8 years off from HS, which seems like a long itme, but then again, I know it will go fast. Also, if you had to choose - would you lean towards Atascocita or New Caney school districts if forced to choose? We've got time, and we're not going to jump just to get a house... but wanted to consider other options as well. Thoughts, please? 4951

@ctl74:
Both my boys go to ncisd and we love it! They just built a brand new middle school FINALLY. I'd rather have my kids go to new caney then atascocita but that's my personal preference.

I would go New Caney before I chose Humble ISD. And that is coming from the perspective that my husband has taught in both districts. Kingwood schools are okay but I would not venture out towards Atascosita. 4951

@katiemcg - Kingwood schools are just okay? What is wrong with Atascocita High School? I know it is very crowded there. 4951

@fcabanski: I'm curious as to why you say this? My kids go to parochial school and will until 9th grade. However, 1) we can't afford private come high school level and 2) we won't be shipping them downtown to continue parochial education. Hence why we're thinking ahead. Outside of retiring or some huge job change to warrant a relocation, I'm not moving again!

@ctl74: If there is talk about it, it is just that at this point.  The bond money has been spent or allotted to be spent elsewhere.
