A child has been mauled and killed by the family pit bull in Houma, LA. Of course the family made the usual statement that the dog was nice to the family and had been bred to breed out the aggressive traits of this breed. The police deputy said that it took 12 shots to bring him down. Go to www.fatalpitbullattacks.com and view the victims. Notice to any rescues in the Kingwood area: please, we do not want or need this breed or mix in our neighborhoods. Please do NOT adopt out any of this breed or mix as we prefer that our streets be safe for our children, people who enjoy walking with or without their pets. We had an issue earlier this week with one roaming in Mills Branch and attacking a lady walking her dogs. This breed CANNOT be housed/fenced like a normal breed. They have been bred for generations for aggressiveness and strength and massive jaw power. If they want to get out of your fence their massive jaw power guarantees that they can escape. 4951
it should be illegal to own one,or at least make the owner carry a huge liability insurance policy.....it's sad that it's always a child or defenseless person killed or attacked.....unless you own one to protect your drugs,i don't see a purpose for owning one........ 4951
I will never own one! I would be upset if a neighbor had one next door to me. I do not trust them! I keep hearing it is the people who own them and how they are brought up which predicts the dog's personality. The problem is how are we supposed to trust the dog is a good dog and trust the owner on this. I am sorry but I am not going to take that chance. 4951
Don't you people get it! It's the way you raise them, it's not the breeds fault, it's their owners fault for not raising them properly, we've heard it thousands time before. For example, I have a Doxie that wouldn't hurt you if you came up and socked him in the mouth (I had a black one several yrs ago, now he'd kick your *** if you socked him in the mouth, or moved him off the bed if he was comfortable, or tried to take his bone, or... lol), but if I raised him different, he'd maul you, chase you down, bite you 40/50 times ect. just for looking at him wrong. You believe that, I don't either. And I agree we've beat the dead horse on this subject, but I held back posting on the last Pit Bull post, so I had to post something on this one.Edit-in addition to my sarcasm above, I'm saddened by the news above, just sad that it keeps happening over and over, same situation. 4951
cador sometimes no matter how well you raise a dog they genetically are just not wired right, but that goes with all breeds not just Pit Bulls. The only issues I have with duddlebug's rants are her constantly wanting to remove my rights to own a breed that scares her. I continually post links that prove these knee jerk reactions wrong but they are ignored even though scientifically proven the pit bull is no more dangerous then the other large powerful breeds.Im a huge 2A supporter but Guns kill people, Guns kill more kids than any pitbull has...so do swimming pools and sports but because idiots out there dont take on responsibilities of either watching their kids, fencing off their pools and controlling their dogs or being an educated responsible gun owner these groups want to take the rights away from us that do.If she and others dont like the breed and dont want to own one thats their right but dont try and remove my right or force me to insure my dog with some expensive policy while others allow ankle biters to terrorizes the neighborhood.I dont own a Pit Bull and may never own one but these rants that they are all gonna eat us all, ban them from our neighborhood and your a bad mommy if you have them around kids is about as ridiculous as it gets. And demanding rescues to stop taking them in and rehoming them with responsible owners is about as counter productive as it gets. 4951
OMG I just looked at the link...what a joke.... 398 maulings since 1844 And over half of them listed pit bull type meaning it was a flipping mutt with no proof what so ever the dog was even a Pit . It wasnt even a link to the story at hand. This was nothing more than another attempt to try and take someones rights away with a site that has an obvious agenda. And of course the only links they give to back their claims is dogbite.org and saying the study was from 1998 when the link brings you right to the study as the same one done in 1979 that CDC removed in 1998 as an invalid study roflmao! 4951
If this is the one mentioned on the other site, the dog was an unaltered male in the house with a female dog in heat. The child was in the room with both dogs.Stupidity should be outlawed. 4951
