Just wait till your daughter starts driving. I could pay a mortgage with what we pay in car insurance. 4951

MM, below is a thread with some good info where an other member went through the same thing, I'm in the business (sell commercial only, so I'm NOT advertising, but do deal with personal lines frequently helping/referring my commercial clients), Liberty Mutual is one of the better ones, but most of the time, Allstate can beat them, especially on the HO's (PM me, and I can give you a good AS agent to quote you). Geico's real good on the Auto (who I'm with, but not sure about the HO's), and Progressive (I'm not too keen on Prog., doesn't mean I wouldn't get a quote from them if I was shopping though), they do have a HO's market, but it's not one of your "standard" co's.If the above can't beat LM (some have said Amica is OK, but I've never dealt with them), or you, or your parents, or children (I believe) are/have been in the military, USAA is hard to beat, LM is probably going to be your best deal.https://www.kingwood.com/message_board/view_message.php?message_board_parent_id=1017761&message_board_message_id=1017761    4951

We have Liberty Mutual for our auto and house- they pulled that last year- dh gave them a call and they actually lowered our rate- plus we get a discount because of dh's employer- nobody could come close so we told State Farm to take a hike- we had been with them for 28 years. I totally disliked our agent- felt like he always had his hand in our wallet- and always with the up sale-ugh 4951

I am frankly annoyed that the times I called my Liberty Mutual agent, Angelica Barrerra, the agents that assisted her always said that's the current rate for your coverage. @thegoodwife - did they raise your deductibles or just took off a few dollars off the bottom line? @mm4731 - maybe call your agent and see if they lower your rate! I never had luck with it but maybe you will. When I called to cancel my insurance with them, the lady on the phone asked if she could see if she could lower my rate. I said no thanks - too late - I already have much cheaper coverage. 4951

Try to insure an empty house!Just had the inlaws move to a house we own in NC.  So they put their house up for sale.  And had to pay more for a 6 month policy than they paid for a year policy with contents!Just insane.Thankfully they just sold their house so they no longer have to pay that.  I had no idea an empty house was so hard to get insurance for and that it was so expensive.

@Fallon:

Yeah, insuring an empty house is Emoticon No one is there to take care of issues (leaks, flooding, electrical, etc...I guess I can understand that). Been there! 4951

No secret! I was busy at work and then finishing up some dishes just now. I now have my car insurance with Progressive. It is my car and my 23 year old son's car. I have home insurance with ASI Lloyds. It was a package put together through Prodigy Insurance Group. My agent is Jayce Kotowych, super nice guy, phone number 281-354-4500. Tell him Judy referred you (no, I don't get any $ back!)Luckily, my 18 year daughter's insurance is through her dad Emoticon@Brightlights - my homeowner's insurance went up 310.00 this renewal - to $1765. Through my new policy with similar coverage, I am paying $1063.00. 4951

That sucks. But it's because vacant homes run a higher risk of theft and vandalism.Ugh

@mm4731We switched from USAA to State Farm for our Auto Insurance like 6 months ago, and ended up SAVING over $500 a year....  Fo' Reals....We use Chris Roberson (in Humble)  # (281) 446-2629Had my in-laws call and do the discount double check with him for their Home and Auto.........(They were with Allstate).........And he was able to insure them with the exact same deductibles, etc etc for quite a bit less.........So they switched as well.....  No Brainer.......For our Home Owner's Policy, we called Fort Bend Insurance (on the recommendation of our Loan Officer / Title Company) and they helped find us the best priced policy available....They act as a middle-man, per say....Here's their info:2623 Winners Ct, Rosenberg, TX 77471(281) 633-2448 4951
