3 hours of cooking to make these things.Randall's didn't any Diakon radishes, substituted a jicama, totally worked.Habanero was a no-go also, so used 3 serranos. So worked. My wife, who is not a big asian food fan, said these were one of the best things, ever.I have not seen her in such a tizzy about food in like forever.Makes the 3 hour cook time worth it.Strange thing, as I taste each component, it is like, yea, ok, nothing to write home about.Even the Vietnamese caramelized pork was good, but epic. But for some reason, you put all these things together, and you all of sudden have EPIC! One of lifes little inexplicable things I guess. My wife is talking about dinner and having these things and we just got done eating 1/2 hour ago.LINK to main recipe 4951

Why does everything have to be pork?

@BooBear: If you look up Vietnamese Caramelized recipes they seem to do it for Pork mostly, but also fish, shrimp and chicken. I don't really see any reason it could not be done for beef. Not sure about tofu, at least using this method.I'm not a sea food fan, so fish and shrimp are out for me. I do eat shrimp, but not a fan of sea food in wraps, more a shrimp cocktail person. 4951

Too complicated.  I'd rather go to a Vietnamese restaurant and order them.  Emoticon

@SandyKnee: Actually it wasn't all that complicated.
It took longer to do the carmalized pork than anything, and that was an hour of let it braise and stir evey 15 minutes. The actual hardest part was browning the pork because you had to do it batches (to do it properly). Most anything else was easy as anything. 4951
