From a pilot's POV - very interesting read... http://www.wired.com/autopia/2014/03/mh370-electrical-fire/ 4951

I read an interview with a man who investigates crashes. His take was that these planes practically fly themselves. If the crew and passengers died, the plane would fly until it ran out of fuel. He said the elevation fluctuations and turns can be explained by the automatic safety systems, but only if the plane wasn't flying in a straight line/controlled path because that would indicate someone was at the controls. 4951

It's funny CNN was mentioned, I'm watching it now and they totally pooh poohed the electrical fire theory.

I think it makes total sense from not only a lay mans POV but from a chick to boot. Lol

I say go with what is likely first, and logical before we call in the aliens, terrorists or Devil's Triangle "suction." 4951

I have never believed the hijacker stories. All that talk has put additional stress on the loved ones of the passengers and crew. 4951

@TheTruthHurts: exactly...the simplest answer is usually the one that fits....some confluence of events that happens in a particular order that leads from a to the ending. most crap in life is caused by happenstance, not conspiracies

The Malaysia Airlines flight that vanished nearly two weeks ago was already 12 minutes into its diverted course when the plane's co-pilot calmly told air traffic controllers that things were "all right," former FAA spokesman Scott Brenner said Tuesday on "The Kelly File.""One of the pilots clearly had the intention ... that he was going to take (the plane) in a different direction," Brenner told host Megyn Kelly. "It's 100 percent clear this pilot, or this co-pilot, was going to take this plane with the intent of doing something bad."At 1:19 p.m. on March 8, 12 minutes after the plane had changed course to the west, co-pilot Fariq Abdul Hamid gave a routine "All right, good night" in his final radio call.Brenner also believes it's likely that Hamid and pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah were both involved in the decision to change the flight's course."For a pilot or a co-pilot to punch in a new waypoint in their flight management system without the other one noticing would be hard to do," he said.http://www.foxnews.com/world/2014/03/18/malaysia-airlines-search-cockpit-checked-in-12-minutes-after-course-was/I still feel its terrorist and we wont know til they 1. blow up something or 2. start demanding ransom for the intelligence on board that plane.  20 American workers (19 are chinese nationals) with stealth technology information.  This was planned.  Also happened hours after the man he worshiped  was taken to prison for sodomy  4951

My thought is that countries/governments around the world should put something like a "lo-jack" device on all planes. Something that the pilots or any maintenance techs will not know about or be able to find. That way they will be a way to know what's going on with everything when the bad guy thinks he has the "upper hand." Thoughts? 4951

I agree. Also feel that the blackboxes should be updated to send signals in real time to a home base or bases.  This should be free of charge.  In our day and age with so much terror happening everywhere we can't be too safe! 4951

I got one for  ya.  Was just looking at google.news live feed on the news on this plane.  there was a story listed out of Malaysa about the pilot and blood relative of a person in power and a cover up. The story was less than an hour old and when I clicked on it it was GONE!   This could explain a lot of reasons of why we were getting conflicting information at first.  I feel the world needs to step in take over that country and find the answers before this happens again. 4951

ok heres a tidbit of what I could find..:Hishammuddin, who is also defence minister, was responding to news reports claiming that MH370 pilot Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah was a fervent supporter of opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and that he might have been upset by Anwar's recent conviction for sodomy. At Parliament yesterday, Anwar admitted that Zaharie was related to his son-in-law, although he was reported to have said that he had no personal contact with the captain.Read more: 'Finding plane is above politics' - General - New Straits Times http://www.nst.com.my/nation/general/finding-plane-is-above-politics-1.520241#ixzz2wO5EFrPx 4951

I agree this mostly seems like a plausible explanation. However, I have two main issues with it:

1. No distress signal of any kind? The fire would have to have started right at an area where communications are immediately lost. Let's remember an explosion is out of the question because the plane kept going and a fire could not have spread out that quickly and have the fuselage remain intact. The 777 is known for having triple redundancy on everything. Not in the communications equipment?
2. The altitude changes. The article gives an explanation for this which is sensible, the pilots were trying to starve the outside of the plane of oxygen. Why go back down, then? Autopilot? Even if the plane could fly itself, is the communications equipment the only part of the plane to completely go? I just don't buy it.
I still believe this was terrorism. Of course, I am not an expert. I just hope for the families that we will find out soon. 4951
