One of the girls (friend of sons) dyed my hair for me.  Did a wonderful job.  We went with a two tone red, one is a deep almost blood red and the other is the lighter auburn.  But my problem is I am not liking it now that I saw it in the sun light.   Like it idea of two tone though.  My question is, how soon can I put another (over the counter  color say Loreal) in my hair?  I am gonna go with an inbetween color to make it blend more. 4951

I was always told 6 to 8 weeks in between dye jobs. 4951

I'd just bite the bullet & have a professional fix it. Maybe @BowtieGuy 's lady could help? 4951

@bp2018: That would be correct, I was once a stylist and the proper time to wait would be 6 to 8 weeks unless you don't mind damaging your hair and having fried ends. Emoticon 4951

Wouldn't it also depend on whether you put a semi permanent color on it? I also hear 6-8, But I have had mine fixed after 3 weeks...but it was the semi perm color. 4951

just wait a while you may change your mind & start to like it after a while . No need to change it right away ....use lot's of conditioners to keep it healthy & then when you do re-color it  your hair will not show a lot of damage . Too much chemicals too soon can damage your hair . 4951

@angiekaye: If you do it sooner than 8 weeks have a projessional do it...   I had some red streaks added to my hair, at first I did not like it, even called my hairdresser and told her I wanted some brown added to tone it down... By the time I got around to getting it fixed it grew on me -   I have gotten a lot of compliments and have decided to keep it...   Sometimes you just have to give yourself time to adjust to the change.....

@angiekaye:I'm with the rest of the chicas on this one....If you give it a chance, and honestly don't care for it, don't take the risk of buying another other the counter hair color and it turning out worse...or damaging your 'fro......And it could very easily happen........I speak from experience here.......Seek the assistance of a professional........That way, you can get the desired color that you're looking for, a really good deep conditioning, if needed, and maintain healthy, beautiful locks..... Check with @BowtieGuy's chica, or I can also give you the name and info for another stylist if you'd like.... 4951

At the very least call the L'oreal colorist help line and explain the situation. They can help you decide whether to tinker with it yourself or see a pro.

Do you like it other than the way it looks in the sun?? All coloring fades, maybe as that happens you will like it much better as it tones down. I guarantee you tho, if you are that red, you are gonna look like fire in the bright sun. Lol

I do like the idea. I am a natural redhead.  I think its just the lighter auburn is too brownish colored and the red well... its BRIGHT red! Almost blood red.  if we would of gone with a more natural red for the dark it wouldn't be an issue.  I will wait another week. Wash it a few times and see if the dark tones down.  i was going to add highlights too maybe that will help it blend better. When I work my hair is always up. But when not working I leave it down and thats when it looks strange to this old lady EmoticonThanks for the advice and the girl that did my hair is a semi- professional, hasn't finished her schooling just yet but getting there. 4951

@angiekayeShow us your hair!  It may not be bad at all.  I would definitely go see a professional.  I would not fool with it. 4951
