@ProblemAgain:  Yeah, but I'm managing it.  I tried Chrome and it's OK, but I prefer FireFox.  Now, I go into FF History periodically and Clear Recent History.  That doesn't always work, but it seems to extend the time before it locks up.I'll look into Slim Cleaner.  Thanks for the suggestion! 4951

@ProblemAgain:  Does Slim Cleaner have any conflicts with security software?  I use McAfee and Malwarebytes.

@ProblemAgain:  I installed Slim Cleaner.  What do you have it clean?  It gets into a lot more things than I know what they are/do.  I had it clean Firefox but didn't notice any improvement.  Soon after I installed it, I had about 12 updates to Windows 8.1  When I went to use my PC last night, it locked up and wouldn't let me restart.  It took several attempts before I got it to restart.  I suspect the issue was the updates and not Slim Cleaner, but am hesitant to use it again. What do you do about the memory problems with FireFox...... run Slim Cleaner after you have FF open for a while?  I have tried using FF History and deleting all cookies, saved pages, etc but it doesn't seem to help.

i've noticed a better usage with firefox when i let slimcleaner just clean according to the default settings. but i am still not happy with firefox at the moment. it went from a rugged and durable low resource browser with some very comfortable addons to a slug. .every time they improve stuff it goes backwards lately..the only thing worse is using other browsers at the moment. there are a few out there. it has been a number of years since i tried explorer...chrome lacks all the bells and whistles that would make it usable but it does duty as a secondary browser..it is kind of like the yugo of browsers and you can drift afield with opera and a number of assorted browsers that may or may not be safe to use. 4951

@ProblemAgain:  Thanks.  I laughed today when I got an email from Mozilla bragging about Fire Fox and giving an update on their upcoming OS!   They can't fix FF but they want to promote an OS?!?  Emoticon 4951

it seems standard...like why go from windows 7 to windows 8 ....the supply and demand in business isn't about supplying what your customers want; it is about getting them to want what you want to supply them whether it is browsers, os or flannel shirts 4951
