Just went to a vet out in Huffman this morning spent $52.00 on an office visit that consisted of looking in my Millie's ears, evaluated a fatty cyst as nothing to worry about and anal gland extraction. This seems a bit excessive or is it just me?  Estimate for teeth to be cleaned is $145.00. She is a 19 lb dog. If anyone knows of a good Vet that might be less expensive please let me know. Thanks! Also:  Need someone to paint our one-story home if anyone can help with that also.  4951

@mrswilson: I love Loop 494 vet.  I spend $100.00 for annual check up.  This includes all vaccines, heartworm test and 6 month heartworm prevention.

@mrswilson: so stick your finger up that dogs *** and milk it's anal glands out, then ask yourself if it's worth the $52.00.

@mrswilson   You aren't going to find anyone cheaper... That is dirt cheap to extract a tooth. I went to the vet on the feeder north in Porter, right before Tractor Supply & they gave me an estimate of $425-475 to extract my 11lbs cat's tooth. First thing I told them was I could have a tooth extracted for less. Then I went to Dr. H in Huffman & the tooth was removed for $135, but that was 2-3 yrs ago. Believe me that's a good deal. If you find anyone cheaper please let us know... One of the Kingwood Vets was estimating $700 to remove a few teeth from a Maltese, the owner looked around & did find it cheaper but it still was  between $200-300. 4951

I also never had my dogs teeth cleaned. I went to PetCo and bought TROPICLEAN Clean Teeth Gel.

@Fallon: Is that toothpaste?  I just can't see my dog not wanting to eat the toothbrush.  We give ours a strawberry a day.  It cleans their teeth too.

If you're speaking of Animal Care Center - Lake Houston, located in the Huffman area, I'm quite surprised that you found your visit to be expensive, and not worth the fee.....We've taken our two boys (Canine), as well as our Feline masters, and have always been more than satisfied, regarding the price, care and staff.........And we definitely Dr. H AND Animal Care Center - Lake Houston....     4951

Dr. H is who she went to this morning but the $145 is only cleaning if she has to have teeth extracted I believe it is $10 - $15 a tooth. Last time her teeth were cleaned it was over $200 b/c of several extractions. Thanks for the info I really appreciate it! 4951

Just want to be clear that I wasn't dissatisfied with her care I just thought $52 for the office visit was excessive. The charge for cleaning does seem very reasonable according to what I'm hearing now. It's sad how much everything goes up. I remember about 3 0r 4 yrs ago it was under $100.. Thanks! 4951

GRRRR.....I SWEAR...people NEED to listen to me when I say CROSBY VET!!!!  Office call fee is $25.00!!!  AND, if you have more than 1 pet - and you take them all at once, you ONLY pay ONE office call fee!!   EmoticonThey saved my dog's life - for less than $80.00 after I had spent SEVERAL hundred at Atascazoo and the Emergency clinic.  Give them a call to get a price for a teeth cleaning...  Emoticon  Yes, it is a first come, first serve place - and you may wait a bit.  But, people drive from ALL OVER to go there for a reason.....  I LOVE THEM!!!  (Oh, and ONLY use them if they are open....The reason I took Cole to Atascazoo was because it was a Sunday - only vet open...then had to move him to the emergency clinic when I couldn't afford to "hospitalize" him at Atascazoo for the night...)  Took him to Crosby vet after I was able to get him stabilized with fluids (provided by Crosby vet to ME...to administer the fluids sub q....)  Needed to get him fluids and stabilized before taking him there.  THEN, they took off my office call fee, b/c they felt bad that I had already spent SO much money at the other two vets with no answers.  Well, he is healthy now, and I saved so much money!!  4951
