So, it's only been a week and Parker is a great dog. He has insane separation anxiety though. I do not mind him following me everywhere but I can't leave a room and block him off without him going crazy.  It seems to be mainly with me.  Even the other pup can go on a walk and without him and he just cozies up next to me.  If I leave the room, he is okay as long as he can follow and see me.  If I am blocked from his sight, he wines and runs around trying to get to me.  He brings me presents throughout the day-just little trinkets he finds around the house(he drops them at my feet). Does it get better as the days go by?I put him in the crate yesterday and came home to find he ate the plastic tray.  WTH?? What do I put down there now?  4951

Oh, I think its cute and sweet, my first dog did that, I could go no where without him following me. Then when I  would sit down he would lay on my feet, yes lay on my feet! Not beside them, but right on top and he was a good 15 pounds, he made great feet warmers. Emoticon 4951

@bubbleyes72: He is very cute.  At 32 pounds though, he is a little more than a foot warmer.  Luckily he just sits or lays next to me.  In all the years of having dogs I have never had one eat the tray at the bottom of the crate though.  He is walked as much as he can be.  He can't walk more than 1mile at a time.  He also plays endlessly with our pup(again, unless I leave the room).

@Okiedokie: I still think it's cute, although it would annoy the hell out of me Emoticon, please post a picture so we can see what he looks like. 4951

My great dane does the same thing. They just don't wanna be alone. He loves you and I think there just nosey too. Sometimes they do it more when there younger. I figure they won't be around forever and to them you are there world and they wanna be with you cause they love you. Some dogs just don't do well in crates. Some freak out some don't. I never used crates. I wouldn't like being confined to a crate either. 4951

My lab is this way. I never crate trained him. He has full run of the house. But he only goes where I go.

@Fallon: I was told that he was crate trained before but I know the people fostered him the week before we got him just let him have free rein of the house.  I left him for about 10minutes and came home to a hallway full of litter.  He had dragged the used litter box out of a room I had blocked off and dumped it everywhere. The other dog is crate trained.  DH doesn't want one to be free and one confined.

Those pics are so cute! Buy him a bag of real bones. I'll take a pic of the kind we buy. They are the only thing that keeps Sneakers occupied for more than 30 seconds and satisfies her urge to chew. Never leave him unattended (like no one home) with the bone (choking) and just put an old blanket or buy one at a thrift store in the bottom of the crate and you won't need a tray. 4951

Is the crate big enought that both of them could fit together in the crate. Maybe he wouldn't freak out if he has a buddy in the crate with him. 4951

my dog has separation anxiety so bad. Its cute and sweet but it breaks my heart at the same time. She literally freaks out when i leave and when i get back its like i have been gone for days or weeks. She was a rescue dog and was very abused as a puppy by her first owner. She is scared of everything and everyone usually except me. It makes me sad some days i hate leaving her Emoticon but now she has 2 other dogs to help out with that anxiety.  Some days it works other days she is so upset about me leaving she will chew and chew and chew and shes normally not a chewer. Its like shes upset and mad at me that i left her. 4951

@sunshinegirl: That's what he does!  He does not chew any other time.  He was neglected when he was younger also so I understand him being scared we aren't coming back.

our coffee table is now vintage cause of her HAHA we have gone through 2 coffee tables. We have to kennel them outside now to keep her from chewing. so now she digs man holes and hides in them outside....she doesnt dig out tho, its always next to the brick of our house where she digs. 4951

@Okiedokie: I think my Molly has anxiety when I leave the house... She has chewed up the legs of a couple of nice antique pieces as well at my window sills.....   By the time I noticed it the damage was done... MY hubby freaked !!!  Now she is put in a kennel when we leave, she had adjusted to it really well - now she goes right in when i mention the work kennel.
