A beach advisory has been issued stating that bacteria levels in the water are above those acceptable for swimming. Galveston County Health District tests the water at 52 different points along the island and the peninsula and has determined that high rain and runoff from urbanization is the cause of high bacteria levels.Swimming with any open wounds or cuts, with a lower immune resistance, or ingesting the seawater could be hazardous to your health. There is no advisory in effect for the Bolivar Peninsula however there is a slight chance of rain forecaster for the entire weekend. @elguapoGross!  I have not gone to Galveston because it is a cesspool!  I went 13 years ago and I will never forget the fish were dead on the beach.  That was my clue!   4951

We moved to the Houston area when I was in first grade. My dad took us to the beach one day for Spring Break. It was PACKED! It took us HOURS to leave the beach. My dad swore that day that he would NEVER take us back and he kept his word. That was 30 some odd years ago! 4951

That is the nastiest beach I have ever seen. It looks like chocolate milk and the sand sticks to your feet like tar. We went once and would never go back. We thought Galveston would be nice. It was a dump. 4951

While there is a considerable amount of pollution in the Galveston waters, the water is brown due to the silt from the river flow. It looks nasty but it's not AS bad as it looks. 4951

Galveston Beach just looks nasty. I haven't been there in years. But I suppose, looking at it from a different perspective, Houston has a great economy, great jobs, big trucks, the best places to eat, cheap cost of living, NASA, oil--I guess it would be cosmically unfair if we had a beach that rivals the blue waters of Hawaii Emoticon God loves us best down here but He can't make it too obvious Emoticon  4951
