Rich people skew the numbers dramatically...if household wealth is $80.66 trillion, then that means each family *on average* is worth $800,000+ each...that's way out of whack.
@KingwoodDotCom: True. That's why I proposed a percentage. If you're worth $8,000,000, then your 22% would be $1,760,000. If you're worth $100,000, then your share owed would be $22,000. The more you're worth, the more you contribute. Think of it as a one-time tax. I just brought this topic up to show in perspective how much the debt really is, I'm not really advocating that we give the guvmint an extra dime!
