Got suddenlink Internet service a couple weeks ago when we moved into new home. The service has been spotty and almost makes streaming video impossible as it disconnects so often.

I thought everyone in Kingwood was just complaining to complain.

Thinking that with all the outages and a stranglehold on the Kingwood monopoly these guys might be a perfect candidate for a good old fashion class action lawsuit. Adding up the number of times it goes out, we have to reset box, etc....

Seems I remember AT&T selling for overstating coverage of cell phones and paying out.

I'd be interested by a show of hands on here how many have struggles with " intermittent service" by Suddenlink?

I dealt with them for a year before I told them to go F themselves. In my case the internet was generally fine, but the cable TV was awful quality, suffering from constant corruption and audio syncing issues. 4951

Century Link is no better either, I've used them both!!! Neither provider could find their butt hole if you gave them a road map and flashlight!!! 4951

I think a lot of the issues for both companies is your location on their grid.  I had Century Link and their service sucked. It slowed down and often shut-down.  I switched to Suddenlink and I've been very happy with their internet service.  I get 30Mbps and it rarely drops below that speed.  I live in the far eastern section of Greentree Village. 4951

Hate them. I pay for the 50mbps, have yet to hit it when benchmarking. Never fails from 12am to 2am the service sucks even worse. They claim that is the time when they are updating. Well that's usually the time I'm playing xbox or watching netflix with my wife. I've lived in 3 houses in kingwood and it's the same.

After you had installed at your house did you call and make them reset the modem on their side? When we have problems I have to call them and get them to reset the modem on there side then it usually works better, for a few weeks anyway 4951

We are at the very end of their lines and the service is very weak. The pixelating TV signal and "suddenly disconnected" internet service is very frustrating. 4951

We were not happy with their cable service at all and the internet took 3-4 people to fix before it finally worked well.  Haven't had an issue with internet since, but we got Direct Tv for the cable and haven't had any problem since then.  Their billing stunk too.  One month it would be one price and another month it would be a different price for their basic service.  I think we might have that one worked out as well.  Finally! 4951

@BowtieGuy:  So what will you do for cable and internet? I've thought about Dish or DirectTV but we have a forest of trees around us and I'm not sure the satellite would properly work. Curious as to what others are doing to get rid of Suddenlink.

@QueenB: You'll probably be alright with Dish/Direct, ,all they need is one clear shot to the sky, they'll be able to find one I'm sure. I'd had both off and on, and prefer Direct by far. I'd go without before I went to SL, seriously, my mom moved here in Dec., I've had to deal with them more times for issues than I have with any of my providers combined in the last 10 yrs.I've got Direct for cable, and Centurylink for internet, CL has changed in the last 6 months, they have expanded their network, I think they are great. I pay $29 for 10 MBS, and get 10 consistently, never been down since I've had them.I miss being able to access the local channels with an antenna, like I did 6 yrs ago when I lived in Atascocita. Went 2/3 yrs without a cable bill, dealing with billing, service issues, ect. I rec'd  perfect reception, but it ain't happening out here, unfortunately.

@cador:Thank you... that is wonderful information! I will talk with dh about this and see how we can change things to get rid of Suddenlink. I don't mind paying the bill, I just despise paying for something that is so often down and/or poor quality. And then to try and talk with their customer service... it's bad for the blood pressure.  Emoticon 4951
