Maybe a dumb question....are there any bald eagles in the Kingwood area?

I don't know of any other large birds that are dark brown all over and white from the neck up but that's exactly what I saw land at the edge of one of the ponds at the front of KW on KW drive just now??

Just curious. 4951

I haven't seen any, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was one or two in our area.  Bald eagles have made such a come-back that they are becoming somewhat of a nuisance in parts of Alaska.Back in LA, there was a couple of bald eagles nesting just west of the New Orleans airport in a swampy area.  They may fly for miles looking for food.  One day, I was walking outside at work and a shadow passed over me.  I looked up and it was a bald eagle gliding by.I've also seen a Golden eagle sitting on a pole west of San Antonio. 4951

are there any bald eagles in the Kingwood area?

@djchavez0921: Absolutely.  I put my canoe in out at East End Park and I've seen them several times.  5 or 6 years ago there was just one pair that nested up Caney Creek on the south end of Lake Houston Park.  The last couple of years I've seen another pair that have a nest somewhere south of East End.  If you go out to Otter Point at East End and look south along the river there's a good chance you'll see them moving between the mainland and the small islands.

we have one that comes into our back yard & sits on the cable that runs from the phone poles. He's beautiful & very large. At 1st I thought it was a huge hawk, but them I realized what I was looking at was an eagle. He has been back 3 times in the last month . We live in Kentucky . 4951

Yep, seen one flying along the shoreline at East End Park, and again another out over Isabell Lake at the southern extent of Lake Houston Wilderness Park. 4951
