1 Bucket

@FoFa: So let's do the math on that: Little Johnny has a bucket (Liebherr ) that has a capacity of 6.2 cubic meters.  How many liters of water will Johnny need to fill it to capacity?  How much does water weigh per liter?  How many pounds of water were dropped on the car?6,200 liters x 2.204 lb per liter = 13,664.8 poundsOf course, we're still missing things like displacement of energy across the mass of the surface of the vehicle along with variable acceleration of the water depending upon how high it was dropped from.  We'll let @RetiredEngineer solve those for extra-credit.   4951

I'd like to see us adopt the metric system.  We had to learn both systems in college because the USA was in the process of moving to the metric system.  Then too many people whined that it was too hard to understand and didn't want to change.  The spineless politicians caved and we are the only large country in the world not using the metric system. 4951

@BooBear:  The metric system is actually a lot easier than what we use now.  Everything is based on a standard and then factors of 10 (up or down).  Plus, we would then be on the same system as the rest of the world, which impacts manufacturing and exporting.

@Retired_Engineer: While we're at it we should join the rest of the world and switch from Fahrenheit to Celsius as well.

I was just working on area between curve problems.  These involve taking the integral, over some interval, of the top curve's function minus the bottom curve's function.  I guess I worked on so many that my brain got in sync with the problems. When I saw "Find the area bounded by the graphs y=3x^2 +12 and y=4x+4", I immediately thought "between -3 and 3 it's 102".  Sure enough, that's what it is. 4951

I have already tapped out on DD's math homework.  I am fine with multiplication and division.  I hate fractions and do not think reading and math should mix.  I will tap back in when it's geometry time. 4951

@BooBear: Same here.  Of course I married someone who has a mind that does work that way.  We also have a child that prefers math over any other class.
