>> Which one do you go to? What's the average wait?
@Heathur: Aren't you a bit young for social security?
@WskyTngoFxtrt:
Isn't
@Heathur the one who's getting married? Maybe she's wondering cause she needs to do her name change? I've been married for a year and a half and still haven't gone and changed my name cause it seems like such a hassle lol
@Irispixies: My 2 year anniversary is in a couple weeks and i haven't done mine either! I did change it legally, just haven't had my drivers license or anything else done. Getting pregnant so fast after getting married, i didn't want to deal with a name change with my insurance during all that. Then i decided to wait until my id expires so i can go get a new picture, change my name, and change the address! I'll get it done in April. My poor husband!
@taramay:
How do you change your name? I thought getting an ID with the new last name was how you changed it? lol
@Heathur: You have to take your marriage cert. and your current id to the ss office. They issue you a new ss card. When you get that, you go to the dmv with your new ss card, and whatever else you have to have (look on their site to make sure), and get a new liscense with your new name. Then you can go to the bank with your new id and get a new card. THEN...you change your name with all the companies that you pay using your card, such as bills and what-not.Â
Basically...they make it as complicated as possible. And it's a huge pain in the ***.In 2 years I've made it past step 1. LOL! 4951
