All dogs are merely a reflection of their owners and how they were raised, trained. Period.
@MTechnique: I don't completely agree with you on that. Â Many animals are born with some natural, instinctual characteristics. Â Examples are a herding instinct, sniffing other dogs butts, rolling in or eating feces or rotting animals, the role of dominance, the ability to swim (or not), a preference to be part of a pack (think wolves) OR a family, Â detect when a female dog is in heat, as well as the act of mating. Â No owner or trainer taught them these things (at least I hope so! Â
), but dogs can usually be taught to modify or control some of these actions.Dogs that have been bred for their aggressiveness MAY have that instinct from birth.  Owners/trainers MAY be able to help the dog learn to modify or control that instinct, but there is no 100% way to be positive.Because of this, I will not own a pit bull, German Shepherd, Doberman, Rottweiler, or any other breed that has a history of being bred for aggressiveness.  To me, it's not worth the risk.  I favor other breeds of dogs that have a more gentle nature; however, I realize that even they are capable or biting and attacking.  But the risk is much lower.
