During a morning bus stop route on January 15th in the Kingwood area a young boy was attacked by a pit bull. Fortunately the driver of the bus was able to pull the dog off the child. The boy was transported to Kingwood Hospital where he received stitches. Montgomery County Animal Police were called to the location and seized the dog from owners. Yesterday Wednesday the 12th was the animal control hearing in court where a judge ordered the dog be destroyed as a dangerous animal. Sadly it's the owner of the dog who is at fault.  For not keeping his / her dog secured.  Stupid people are the number one reason animals are killed in area shelters daily. 4951

After looking through several hundred pictures of dog attacks. I believe the dog just got overly excited and wanted to play with the boy but was being too rough. In the photos of the boy you can see teeth marks that clearly broke skin but no tearing. In other pictures I've found of attacks the damage done to the victim was much much more severe. I believe that had the dogs intention been to hurt this boy his injuries would have been life threatening. 4951

@Drekonix:
Really? Those injuries to his arm and leg looked like more than play to me. I am not a dog bite expert though.

If my dog did that to anyone, adult or child, unprovocted, I would have it put down.

@N+T: I agree, euthanasia was the right course of action. I think it could have been much worst though. On a side note, imagine if we put human's down at the first sign of aggression or violence.

Not to mention the picture.....why oh why always that same picture. I bet my whole pay check that isn't the dog that attacked. Anyone have a picture of the actual dog? 4951

@Drekonix:
Imagine if you were lost or unwanted and were put in a shelter in a 4ft x 4 ft cage. Unfortunately, there is an over breeding problem in our country, a lack of education on how to pick the right dog for the right person/family, a lack of low cost dog training and basic dog behavior education to the general public.

@Queen_of_Spayeds: I don't understand your logic.  If the most advanced species on the planet can be "stupid owners", then it stands to reason that any other animal could be stupid as well.Don't let your love for dogs cloud your thinking.  I love dogs as well and own a pit/lab cross, but your argument that only owners can be stupid or irresponsible is ludicrous.  There are people in prison for heinous crimes who had loving homes and wonderful parents.  Sometimes, regardless of any other factor, a person or animal is going to act aggressively and be predaceous.
