@Okiedokie:

Shouldn't the bigger kids get out earlier so they can be home for their little brothers and sisters? That was my only concern 4951

No way! So hs kids are going to get NO time to have a break before extracurricular activities. What about hs kids that work? Why? Guess I won't go back to work at the hs. This sucks! 4951

I'm not a big fan of the change. I'm a stay at home mom and in the evenings, I'm ready for my husband to get home. So now he will be home at least an hour later. Dumb. 4951

I think it is a horrible decision. The young ones won't be awake at that time. I may have to find a new job. Can't drop my kids and get to school on time. Not a good move. Also not a good move not to ask any parents or employees their opinion. Hope lots of parents show up to the voice your opinion thing and speak their mind. 4951

Interesting. So that means kids will be getting home at 7:00 or later after practices/events?

Brilliant!

@mpjp0907: I highly doubt it.  I think they were hoping it could fly under the radar though. What about the teachers that live outside the district?  They will have to figure something out for their kiddos to.  I would love to see the research they are basing this decision on.

Exactly my problem. I drop my kids and go to work. Won't be able to do that. 4951

The only one that will benefit from this is the after school care for the little ones. 4951

@king:

And isn't it interesting that the school board president owns multiple daycares in the district? 4951

Also, think about how much school the middle/high schoolers will miss with travel times to extracurricular activities. Are there any other districts that have switched start times like NCISD is wanting to do? 4951

You have complete control over this.  Public Schools aren't the only schools. 4951
