When can I expect to have to stop replacing pants every couple of months due to worn knees? My son's school pants, roughly 6 weeks old, has another hole in the knee. He's killing me - here I thought wearing a uniform was going to save me money... He's almost 7.

DH recommended patching the knee, but I doubt that will fly in parochial school. 4951

@ctl74 Those pants don't sound very sturdy. How about patching on the inside before a hole forms? 4951

@ctl74:  Get some of those iron-on patches and patch the knees.  He'll get so much flack from his friends that he'll be more careful (maybe!). 4951

Does he get an allowance for doing chores? If so, make him pay for the next pair out of his own money. 4951

@salth2o:  Yeah, I'd like to go back in time and meet the first person that lowered his pants down so you can see his underwear.  I'd duct-tape those pants where they belong!   Emoticon

When my boys wore uniforms, I would place those khaki colored iron on patches on them! They never outgrow holes in the knees! 4951

I recall getting my *** whooped over the same scenario as a kid. I stopped tearing up my pants pretty much instantly. 4951
