I need a recommendation for a pediatric dentist for my little girls as well as a general dentist for my husband and I.  I did search the forum and saw lots of recommendations for Dr. Introligator-BUT he's not taking new patients until September!

Help!

Thanks Emoticon 4951

I really like Dr. Mosby, and my older two kids (6 and 3.5) have seen him as well and like him and his staff. But, after 4 appts with him (3 cleanings between myself and the kids, one appt for fillings), I just learned that while he takes our insurance, he's considered out of network by my insurance company, therefore only 80% of the bill is covered by insurance.

Not sure I can afford this and will be exploring who is "in network" and stalking this post for suggestions. 4951

Most dentists say age 3, but you might want to check with your insurance company to see if they have an age stipulation.

I took my oldest at around 2 yrs/8 mos as I was getting ready to get laid off and lose insurance, so I had two weeks to jam in any doctors appts. I could! 4951

My husband and I tried going to Dr. Burnett on 3 different occasions. Apparently going to the lake last minute was more important than following through with her afternoon appointments. Two of those times the staff forgot to call us to cancel on us and we went out of our way taking time off work to show up there only to be told that she was off for the day. Very frustrating. I wouldn't recommend her or at least don't make an appointment during the nice warm months.I will say that I have had the hardest time finding a dentist in the area. Maybe because my dentist in Dallas was so great I have high expectations, but I have been to 5 different dentists since we moved here and I am not really impressed with any of them. We are currently going to Dr. Introligator, but I just found out he has an eye infection and is expected to be completely blind until he can get a corneal transplant due to bad cataracts. I guess I will be looking for dentist #6 soon. 4951

@maven: That's too bad for sure.  It's never happened to any of us (5 in total) who see her.

My chiropractor recommended her and he said how great she was and when we told him what happened to us he seemed surprised. He said he went to school with her and she was really great. I will say I did like the hygienist that was there, but Dr. Burnett wasn't there to go over x-rays or even to meet her. I tend to have terrible dentist luck though. 4951

Everyone here knows Im very strict with recommending anyone. And most know why....LOLAt this point in our area I would only feel somewhat comfortable recommending  Introligator because I havent used him but I do my homework and he passes. I know you cant use him right now but maybe set up that appointment for September and only use someone else till then.Outside our area I would recommend Scott Jones family dentistry in Cleaveland. His office is not very appealing from the outside but walk through his doors meet his staff and use him you will not be sorry. I do use him and I am probably the most strict about dentist of anyone you will meet. He doesn't use anything but local shots for pain though but he will see kids and adults as a family.http://www.jonesfamilydentistryonline.com/ 4951

I go to Dr. Burnett. I just see her for a few minutes at the end of my visit. I love all the dental hygienists there. My children go to Dr. Robin Stratmann - a pediatric dentist in Humble. We have been going there since 1999. My son doesn't go there anymore - he is 23 and at college. I hope he has been going to the dentist in Austin. I can't keep up with everything! My daughter still goes to Dr. Stratmann. 4951

Thanks everyone!

We decided to go with Southeast Texas Children's Denistry in New Caney-seem to have good reviews when I researched.  We didn't have many of the options you mentioned above.

And one thing that was very important was that they allow us to go back with the kids. 4951
