...that is a major mooch and is always looking for something free -

suggesting to the bosses that they buy lunch, dinner or happy hour

wants to have lunch meetings so lunch will be brought in @ company expense

waits around to go to late lunch to see if there are meeting catering leftovers

at every gathering, fixes a plate to eat and a plate to go

cozies up to the right people in line at Starbucks so they can latch on and get their drink free
Just makes me sick!

You know, it's one thing if your group has a meeting and there are leftovers, and everyone takes them in an effort not to waste, but to purposely order more than you need so that will happen is just WRONG!!!!  When ordering for a group, you should cut the amount by 10-20% to cover no-shows since there are always some.  4951

@Retired_Engineer:
Yes, Peaches is at it again. Sad thing is that everyone sees, knows it and talks about it and she thinks she's being clever and flying under the radar.  I saw two things from my list TODAY.  They are usually spread out more carefully.  4951

When I worked, we would have food brought in a couple of times a year after work so our department could spend some time socializing.  Then some people would drop by, pick up some food and leave.  So we changed and didn't allow any "go" plates until after everyone had eaten and only if there was food left over.  If people didn't want to stay for the meeting, they didn't get food. 4951

If people didn't want to stay for the meeting, they didn't get food.
@Retired_Engineer: And, normally, mature adults with good common sense understand that and DON'T have to be told over and over.  They wait until the meeting is over, then go in with everyone else, unless they personally attended.

Nowdays, some people feel it's their God-given right to free food provided by the company, just because there was a meeting somewhere in the building that ordered it.   4951

When I was leaving my job to stay home with the wee one, my bosses took the office (12 people) to lunch at italianos. One girl actually ordered food for her family to eat that night! She was a work friend of mine and i was so shocked! Thankfully my boss caught on and told the waiter that anything ordered to go was to be paid by the person who ordered, not to be included in our lunch tab that they were picking up. LOL! 4951

A company I used to work for started giving free snacks like chips, cookies, peanuts, etc. They ust put them on a table in the common area. It all worked for about a year until the snacks didn't last a full day. The office manager noticed a few people had their desk drawers filled up and others taking full bags home every night. And that is the story of how free snacks were taken away at the company. Idiots!Take into account that the free snakcs were a very generous perk because the company had about 50 people working at that office. Maybe 4 or 5 jerks ruined it for everybody! 4951

we had a running coffee club at work,, you paid $5 a month and someone would go and get the supplies. We had about 20-30 members. If you missed a payment, you just paid next month. I used to pay $20 ahead of time. you figure that's a lot of money just for coffee, sugar, sweetner, and creamer,, not to include other supplies people would bringwell there were more coffee drinkers than club members, so now we just buy supplies when we can.,,, of course the non suppliers still drink coffee.  4951
