The sad part is...the way people are nowadays, this sort of stuff unfortunately makes me skeptical. 4951

At the intersection of Holcombe and Almeda there is a lady crying and holding a sign that reads "Son passed away. Need help with burial. Anything will help god bless" there is also a pic of a boy that looks to be 5 or 6 years old.

Isn't there something out there that helps with this type of situation?

@mm4731:
yeah, life insurance rider....   I too am skeptical...   But if true that is very sad...   My policy is to Give when I can and if the person lied it is between them and god.... 4951

Very sad, either way....If you gotta lie about paying for your son's funeral expenses, then you're just a sad piece of crap........But if it's true, then crap dude, that's just really sad.... I did just Google and locate this little tidbit of info.....Funeral, Burial, and Bereavement Services - Regardless of your
income or background, every citizen of Harris County is entitled to a
simple but dignified burial. The Texas Constitution requires all
counties across the state to either cremate or bury the indigent. This
Bereavement program will work with families to refer them to services
and organizations that may provide low-cost funeral services, or Harris
County can arrange a county burial. Bereavement Services are offered
when a resident has no other options available to them.
These emergency programs are administered by Harris County Community Services Department. Call them at (713) 578-2000.Link:http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html/financial_assistance_harris_co.html  4951

@herron1345 I figured the county had something like that. They aren't going to let bodies pile up somewhere.

I have come to realize that there is now depth too low for someone to sink to in order to make a buck. Money really is the source of all evil. 4951

Its crazy cause my dad always told me do NOT give them money. If you are some place where you can at least get them some food do that. BUT you cant trust anyone. Plus I'm terrified to even roll my window down. I saw a boy just yesterday in humble buy the mall holding a sign that said will work for $$ he looked about 14 if that. Makes me sad, but such a hard decision cause you want to help but you just don't know what to think or believe. I do have a weakness for animals....(is that sad i love animals more than ppl?? I have my reasons) but i saw a man in atascocita with his dog...i don't think i would have helped really if he didn't have that sweet little freezing cold pup with him. A lot of people were helping him but most of the people were giving him stuff for his dog not really him. I bought some stuff from HEB and for some reason when i walked to give it to him i started sobbing. That little dog looked up at me and it just broke my heart. I just don't understand how someone can let go of themselves so much that they end up like that.........i don't get it. 4951

@TexasBarbieDoll: That is especially disturbing to me because I imagine there are quite a few sickos who have "work" for him. I wonder if the police are called, if they would call CPS?

@TexasBarbieDoll: It's definitely NOT sad that you love animals more than people. Domesticated animals are dependent upon people to help them. People, for the most part, can fend for themselves if they just grow a set and quit being so lazy and not feel like everyone owes them a living.

Very skeptical about her.  Remember the guy who claimed to be from Kingwood and they couldn't afford to bury his sister-in-law?  He was actually from Conroe and lied about a lot of things.  Many KDC'ers offered options and suggestions, but they only wanted cash. 4951

I know there are people who are out there who need help,,, however I am very skeptical about most of them. Example... a few weeks ago I saw this kid with a dog on Northpark and 59. He has a sign that said the needed money or a ride to go north. People were giving him money. I saw him a few days ago,, still there. 4951

when we lived in Texas we saw a guy in a wheel chair with no legs in front of the Walmart  store with a sign that said "need money for food".....my husband being a "talker"  started a conversation with this guy & found out he collects SS & he gets a pension from the government since he was injured while on duty . He said he did it for "extra cash " ...now I ask you is that fair to the people that are soft hearted enough to give him $$$ . We never hand out money , but we have given many people a "hand up" when we felt we could do some good & the ones we helped never asked for our help . 4951

The scammers have become so bad that I just don't believe anyone that takes the effort to stand out on a busy street corner with a sad sign, but can't take the same effort to contact the government and non-profit services in place to help them in their urgent crisis.  That also leads me to believe that perhaps their true need is not as portrayed and in fact, the need is to separate people from their money the quickest way possible, like the gypsies on 1960 hovering around HEB, Kohl's and Walmart.  4951

Nobody needs to beg on a street corner for funeral money.  This beggar is a scammer. 4951

A good way to find out is to ask her where the funeral is.  Call the funeral home and if it is legit and they do need money, then kind hearted individuals could donate directly to the funeral home. 4951
