Anyone have any experience or observation based opinion on Oakhurst as a place to live? Kids/schooling are not an issue. We are getting sick of Harris County and the far back of Kingwood. 4951

We lived there for 6 years. It was great having easy access to 59. Hoa was good at keeping upkeep. Taxes are higher than Kingwood and they have MUD Taxes, other than that, we liked it there very much. 4951

@choclab where have you been? Glad to see you post. I don't know about oak hurst, but knowing what I know now, I think we would have moved further north. We love kingwood, but not the crime that is encroaching of late. I am having buyers remorse in a huge way. 4951

I have been busy doing other things, but frankly I got a little bored with things on here. I haven't even been lurking. But anyway we are looking to downsize a bit. We love it here in the house and at the location, but are getting sick of the 20 minute drive to front. Wifey deserves another shot at a new house. So we are in the thinking/planning stages. 4951

Would not recommend it based on the incompetent crooked management company CAM. 4951

We moved to Auburn Trails little over a year ago...love it.  Ease of access to 59 is so worth it. 4951

We have lived in Oakhurst for 6 years and we love it. Getting to 59 takes a few minutes, but so much better that coming out of Kingwood. We like our neighbors, people are always out walking, the pool is hardly ever busy. I'm glad we made the choice to live here. 4951

If you decide to look in Auburn Trails, the two primary builders are Lennar and Legend.  Legend has a lot of houses for sale while Lennar is more popular (and cheaper).  We built a Lennar and zero complaints.   4951

We moved in Oakhurst on December 23rd and have no complaints so far. Glad to hear the pool isn't too packed since we are around the corner from it! We built with Lennar and only had a few issues after closing and they have come to fix those as needed. 4951

I don't understand what you mean by crooked CAM?  All developments have HOA fees.  The HOA fees here are $575 annually...not so bad.  The grounds are always kept up, flower beds always look nice!  I purchased a home through Meritage who allowed changes to the plans, which Lennar does not allow.  So far I have had no major problems since building in 2007.  The commute to the downtown area is smooth (compared to 45).  Access to 59 is easy.  Golfing is inexpensive compared to other courses.  My property taxes on a 3,100 sq. ft. house are $3,200...can't beat that anywhere.  Lonestar Community College is just down the road.  Neighbors are all professionals.  I highly recommend Oakhurst! 4951

Is Oakhurst in Montgomery County? That would be a good move for lower prices on everything. Is that the sub across 59 off NP? Looks great and you just pop out onto the hwy. I would totally move there. 4951

New development going in behind the new church on the north side of Northpark.  Looks pretty nice and easy access out to 59. 4951

@TXCheri: They send out letter for non existent problems, fine you when you don't fix the non existent problems and they sent you bs attorney fee demands from a family-member attorney when you are unable to fix non existent problems. They don't answer the phone, won't return calls, don't respond by mail, are unable to fix their own mistakes. Grounds kept up? I guess you don't really look around much. I sent them an itemized list of over 35 issues in common areas (their responsibility) about 6 months ago and best I can tell only 2 or 3 have been addressed. They can all go to hell. There is NO problem with the HOA, CAM on the other hand are lazy incompetent ****'s
