I've always had my wife deal with mechanics on her car. She would call me to ask if something sounded right, but I had her deal with the people. When we first moved here almost 21 years ago, some of the mechanics tried to brush her off and asked to speak to her husband. She stood her ground and make them deal with her. I'm really adamant about teaching her how to deal with people. Her father married her mother when she was 15. He did all the bills, went shopping, etc. All she had to do was clean house, cook, and make babies. When my wife was in high school and her father ran off with another woman, her mother didn't know how to drive, how to write a check, and many other things that an adult should know how to do. My wife has come a long way! Actually, if we have an issue with a bill, I prefer to let her handle it. She has good people skills and will have the person willingly help her. If I handled it, I would end up yelling and cursing.
@Retired_Engineer: What a jerk he was, I hate to hear when men do this to women....But I agree with you, we as women need to know when to hold our own. 4951
