I made the mistake of checking Kids in Action on Monday thinking maybe because of the pool and the fact that a few of the kids from my daughters school go there I would try to send her there. Big mistake. I wouldn't send my kid there even if it was free.
I tried sending an email under the contact us to Kids in Action and it wouldn't let me. We went to tour the facility and some little boy about 3 or 4 was being completely humilated by the staff for having an accident in his pants on the playground. They were calling other staff to the front who were arguing about who was going to change this poor kid in front of myself, my 8 year old and 3 other parents that came to pick up their kids. If I was the other parents, I would have pulled my kids immediately. That poor kid was mortified. Parents work way to hard to potty train their children for there so called teachers to completely put him back to square one. My 8 year old felt so bad for the kid. They also don't let you back to the classroom to pick up your kid from what I have seen. They call on a walkie talkie and the teacher sends your kid up. That is definetly not for me.
@dotti573:
Well, this is all very interesting to hear!
I'm not at all "related" to KIA, but my kids do there for daycare, so I can clarify that you are indeed allowed to go to the classrooms anytime you want to pick up your child - a lot of parents just choose not to. Heck, they recently changed their policy for where parents can park for pickup / dropoff (the awnings - where the school vans used to be parked) and parents STILL insist on parking in the fire lanes. Lazy bums.
I regularly go upstairs to pick up my child - I like to see the staff and how they interact with the kids.
I have had minor issues there, but having had 3 kids in 4 different daycares throughout my span of parenthood, I've found that there is always going to be something that bothers me - I just have to rank it by importance and safety level.
Now, the chastizing of the child really upsets me and, I hope you don't mind, I plan to bring it up to the director. (I'm not going to bring this post to her attention or let her know where I heard this or anything, though.) 4951
