Does this happen to you?  I can be very focused on reading or typing something..... both of which are visibly obvious to anyone around me, and my wife will walk up to me and start talking!  It usually takes 4-5 seconds for me to even realize that she's talking.  It is very irritating to me since I was so focused, and usually the thing she is talking about is not something I need to know that second. The worst time was when I was cutting out an intricate design on my band saw.  Since my fingers were inches from the blade, I was very focused on what I was doing.  My wife walks into the garage, stands next to me, leans over, and in a loud voice (since the motor and sawing was making noise)  tells me what she's planning on fixing for supper.  I damn near cut several fingers off!  At least she has learned not to interrupt me when there is a power tool running! 4951

I'm guilty of the idle interruption when hubs is focused on something here and there, but he is worse than me at pulling me away from something important that I am doing by myself so I can help him do something important to him.....but now, that instant, that can't wait....my stuff can wait....but he is the best and a good man! 4951

I agree, @cgm10sne1!  I think we are ALL guilty of doing this.  We're selfish creatures by nature and often don't think before we speak, especially to our significant others.  4951

I get very focused on cooking to be honest, my girlfriend tries to have a conversation with me while I'm trying to simultaneously prepare 5 dishes and she just laughs it off at how intense I am while in the kitchen. 4951

At risk of starting a war, I think men have a tougher time focusing on more than one thing at a time.  You guys can zero in on whatever you're doing and tune everything else out...not even hear anything.  Girls, am I correct? 4951
