@TexasBarbieDoll: How far away?! You need to get on the ball girl, lol! I got my dress from Brickhouse Bridal in The Woodlands. They are the BEST! Cannot say enough wonderful things about this boutique. You need to order a dress 6 months in advance. I ordered mine 6 months exactly in advance, but it's getting here in 5 months-ish (May 9) so I'll have about 6 weeks for alterations. Going with my bridesmaids & MOH to The Princess Bridal & then Brickhous Bridal on the 18th of this month so they can get their bridesmaids gowns. (Bridesmaids dresses take about 4 mos to get in.) Do you know what color scheme you want? Style of wedding dress for yourself? Is there a bridal designer you like? Price range is always important too.

Well its a destination wedding in Lake Tahoe. Its on June 11th so it will be somewhat summer time there but still chilly at night. My wedding is outside in the evening. I have a few i am looking at. There are just so many choices its so hard. I know my brides maids are wearing a strapless long dress in turquoise. I found one by Vera Wang.  4951

@TexasBarbieDoll: You should take a day with your girls, even some of them if they can't all go. Just go to different boutiques trying on bridesmaids dresses. One day I took 3 of my 4 girls & we went to Dave's Bridal & Alfred Angelo (not being ugly but those places are like the Walmart & Target of wedding shopping) & then we went to 2 boutiques in Kingwood, 1 in Old Town Spring, & then the boutique I'm getting my dress from in The Woodlands. They tried on ALL different types & styles. I had 4 picked out but seeing them try them on helped me choose the one, plus it was fun taking pictures of them in ugly dresses just having fun, lol. As for YOUR dress, that was the HARDEST part for me, but once I saw it, I knew it was "the one." That was just seeing it on pinterest! lol. Seeing it in person only made me that much more positive & that's the dress I'm getting. I'm getting married June 22. Wedding dresses take a while to be made though so you really need to order yours in the next week or 2 girly. You can pay an extra $150 or so to put a rush on the delivery but that's only by a month or 2 depending on what the designer offers.

@TexasBarbieDoll: lol Regardless of how long it does or doesn't take you, I hope you find it & I hope it's a positive experience for all of you! (You especially!) Let us know what you found & where! Here's a link to a review I wrote on here about the place I bought my dress at. They have the best prices in the city & if there's a dress they don't have but you have the designer & dress number on hand, they will order it for you at the best price possible (trust me, I priced every boutique in the city). They gave me a pair of pearl earring & a 10% discount for buying on my first bridal visit. My girl's are also getting a 10% discount since I bought my dress there. My parents paid for my dress in full but I asked if they had payment plans for my girls & you can put 60% down to get it & pay the other 40% later. The first link has a pic of my dress on the first page & then a pic of my bridesmaids dresses on the second page. The second link has pictures of our venue on the 3rd page. Getting married at a yacht club on Lake Conroe. Ceremony on the water, reception inside in the promenade room. Congrats on the weddine btw! They are so much fun to plan! You should check the george r brown convention center for bridal shows too. I went to one with my mom & girl's in August or September & it was SO much fun! https://www.kingwood.com/messages/brickhouse_bridal.php?message_board_parent_id=994528&ampEmoticonage=&message_board_category_id=1&vpage=0

This kind of stuff is for the young, for sure.  Maybe I should've stressed over what I was going to wear (our backyard wedding was Nov 30th), but I truly didn't care and neither did my husband.  It drove my co-workers crazy that I wasn't going out shopping for 'the perfect ensemble' and there were so many details about the wedding that weren't perfect, but you know what?  None of that mattered.  We had a great time with family & friends and shared some pretty special moments.  Our clothes didn't make one bit of difference.  It's a shame so much money & stress are spent on the details.Good luck @TexasBarbieDoll and I hope you have a great time and make great memories! 4951

@Love2Run: I don't think it's a shame at all. Different strokes for different folks. You wanted a backyard wedding & I think that's wonderful! I totally agree that the one thing that matters most is that you're marrying the love of your life & sharing such a special day with the people you love, but if a big, nice wedding is what someone wants & they're able to afford it & make it happen, then why not? I think that's wonderful too & don't see the shame in it at all. You had your idea of what your wedding should be, & every woman is entitled to what she wants- be it an inexpensive backyard gathering, or a more expensive larger affair. Some people are detail oriented & others are not. There's nothing wrong with caring about details. Congrats to you & Barbie both.

@Nicole4647: Aww you don't want to save it?! My mom saved hers & I'm sooo glad she did. It was awesome looking through her wedding album & seeing her dress & everything she's kept. I want to be able to give that to my daughter when she gets married someday. Plus I'm having my mom's wedding dress altered to be my DD's flower girl dress. Using the cuff of my mom's gown to wrap my bouquet with & using lace from her dress on my guest book, flower girl basket, & ring bearer pillow. Why don't you want to keep it?
