It actually looks like a pure Cocker Spaniel to me.  Emoticon  I would contact any and all vets in the area that you found it, let them know.  Also contact BARC, Houston SPCA, and Houston Humane Society to let them know.  And, look up Cocker Spaniel Rescue groups and notify them.  This dog looks definitely elderly and is obviously loved and surely missed!!  Maybe if there is a neighborhood near where you found the dog, put some signs around.  I bet someone is really freaking out right now.  GOOD LUCK, and thank you for picking him up!  Emoticon 4951

There is a site called lost dogs of Texas on facebook. They are pretty good at matching up dogs with owners. Give them a try also. 4951

The dog was picked up by a friend of mine who asked me to help. He took it to a 24 hr vet, and it has no chip. He is going to drive around the area where he found it when he gets off work today, and look for signs.  Poor baby, I hope we can locate his owners.  If he were mine, I would be frantic! 4951

Make a flyer with a pic and hang it in some high traffic areas like the closest Walgreens or walmart. Also call area groomers and vet. I hate thinking that this is some little old lady's dog and she doesn't know how to find it Emoticon 4951

Update:LOCAL HOUSTON FOSTER NEEDED OR DO YOU KNOW WHERE HE LIVES: ID ‪#‎A397040‬ Male, black cocker spaniel According to friends: Found him walking on the should...er next to the passing lane on Sam Houston Tollway near Ella and the North plaza around 8:15pm January 8th. He does not have tags or a micro-chip. Now at Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services at (281) 999-3191 Gulf Coast Cocker Spaniel Rescue in Houston, Texas, pulls dogs without discriminating against age or health status, but we will not place a dog in boarding. We believe it is best for them to be in a home environment so we can learn about the kind of home they need in order to thrive. Therefore, in order to pull a dog, we must have a local, approved foster. Fosters must agree to take the dog to our vet located at 9695 Southwest Freeway, and they must attend one event monthly for exposure, ie adoption event, festival, expo, but all expenses are covered by GCCSR. If interested in becoming a foster for GCCSR, please submit an application here: www.gulfcoastcockers panielrescue.com/fos tering.php. Fosters are the lifeline of our organization. Please help save a life today!

The owner saw his photo on Gulf Coast Cocker Spaniel Rescue's FB page, and contacted them. She also saw a poster on the Lost Dogs of Texas FB page, and the young man who found him said she litterally blew up his phone last evening with calls about her dog.  She was able to prove he was hers with various photos, one of which he is wearing the same sweater.  From what I know, "Charley" is 13 years old, and somehow escaped through the woods.  He is deaf, so I guess he was unable to hear them call out to him.  I didn't speak to the young lady, but from what I have been told, she is greatlfy relieved, and will be picking her dog up from the shelter this morning. 4951
