Job Description:
The president/owner of a vocational rehabilitation consulting firm is seeking a full-time assistant. The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselorís Assistant will assist the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with various responsibilities, including office support and administrative duties, establishing relationships with clients and assisting with their needs, supporting other members of staff and performing related work. The ideal candidate will be comfortable networking (in person, via telephone, and using the Internet), attending job fairs, and cold-call sourcing.


Assist Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor in coordination of vocational and rehabilitation services for injured workers, acting as liaison between referral source, physician, employer, attorney, academic counselors, and others.

Survey international and domestic labor market, researching and analyzing labor market data. Requires extensive use of telephone and internet.

Provide career development services to clients, identifying job leads using an array of recruitment resources, including the following: participating in social media (LinkedIn and Face Book); researching internet job boards; attending job fairs; cold-calling upon employers; performing industry networking.

Review case files to provide synopsis and history of client.

Inform staff members of all pertinent communications taking place with clients and/or their representatives.

Prepare organized reports within specified timeframe.

Establish, update, and maintain records and forms in a standardized manner.

Maintain billing log client contacts; review and enter billable time.

Provide back-up office support to other administrative staff members as directed.

Other duties and projects as assigned.

Skills Required:

Education: College degree preferred; recruiting background or other relevant HR experience strongly desired. Knowledge of medical and legal terminology desired.

Computer: MS Word, Excel, and Outlook proficiency required; strong Internet research skills required.

Communication: Ability to maintain confidentiality required. Outstanding interpersonal, telephone, and written communication skills required; bilingual is a plus. Must be able to identify and make initial contact for new networking opportunities.

Organizational/Analytical: Attention to detail with high level of accuracy required. Good decision-making, problem-solving, and time-management skills are required.
